6/30/2023: Daily Pulse

News You May Have Missed June 30, 2023 The Supreme Court released its decisions in three big cases this week.  Students for Fair Admissions, v. Harvard overturning affirmative action in college admissions on constitutional and statutory grounds. Biden, et al., v. Nebraska, et al. overturning President Biden’s student loan forgiveness program on statutory, and implicitly on constitutional grounds. And 303 Creative LLC et al., v. Elenis et al. overturning a Colorado law that would compel a person to engage in speech she did not believe in on 1st Amendment free speech grounds.  It is sad that these cases are considered ground shaking when they did nothing more than affirm our rights and civil liberties protected by the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.  Any who disagree with these three decisions are in reality arguing the Constitution must be subordinate to whatever policy the party in power wants to implement.  In other words, they are arguing the Constitution must be thrown in the dumpster of history so they can obtain a result the Constitution won’t allow. I was hoping to have an article up today on Jester Politics about these cases, but there’s too much to unpack, so Monday it is.   Oh my, let me look for my shocked face: House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer suggested Wednesday that “Members of President Biden’s family may have accepted in excess of $40 million from foreign nationals in exchange for favorable policy decisions.”   Some people should not be allowed to write headlines: “Pornhub pulls out of Virginia over age verification law.”   Carbon neutrality – grate for grifters and the “elites,” not so much for the rest of the world: “IEA’s Net Zero Dream Was Just Debunked as a Nightmare.”   A front runner for the most loathsome politician of the year award: “Mayor Adams calls former Nazi refugee a ‘plantation owner.’”   Policing at its Finest: “Chicago Police Raided at Least 21 Wrong Houses” – all in three years…and the number may be higher.  I support the police, but the incompetent, foolish, and stupid have to be removed.     California leading the way again:  “Report details cases of leprosy in California.”  Only six over the last six years, but I imagine at one time the California “elites” said something like ‘heh, it’s only six homeless people.”  What a mess, California went from a role model for states to a role model for third world countries.   Good: “Pressure grows on judge to reject Hunter Biden plea deal amid evidence of DOJ interference.”   Pro Tip:  If you have your mother tell your uncle he is not invited to your wedding because he’s a conservative, then don’t cry when he doesn’t send you that $1,000 check as a wedding gift.  If I was the uncle, I’d send that young bride pictures of me vacationing in Tuscany with the caption “A $1,000 buys a lot of good wine here.” Share this post:
