More smoke and mirrors? “Senate closes in on deal on new hardline border policy that could ban asylum after 5,000 crossings a day.” I hardly consider allowing 5,000 illegal immigrants to cross the border per day before not taking more asylum applications a hardline position. Also, will they still be released into the U.S., after applying for asylum, or detained pending their asylum hearing?

We are so screwed. Every generation has its problem. The Greatest generation had the Great Depression and WW II. The Boomers had the Korean War, Vietnam, and Woodstock (ok Woodstock was cool). Gen X and the Millennials had Afghanistan and Iraq. However, Gen Z has broken new ground and set the anxiety bar at new levels: “Gen Z suffers from ‘menu anxiety’ when dining out — with many too scared to order their own meals.”
Anti-Semites are running wild. Anyone who has read or watched the news, or logged into X knows that antisemitism is out of control in general and on our university campuses in particular. I’m a free speech maximalist, but most of what we’re seeing is not people engaging in speech, but instead engaging in violence and intimidation. Painting Swastikas and “from the river to the sea” on Jewish owned buildings, apartments, and dorm rooms; ripping down posters with pictures of Israelis who are being held hostage by Hamas; destroying Menorahs, etc., is vandalism and intimidation. It has to stop.
I am firmly against the government and private universities taking official action against those who engage in purely speech that is antisemitic. However, the university administration from the President down, as well as professors and students can, and must forcefully condemn that speech. Additionally, every right-thinking person should shun those who engage in antisemitic speech. We do so with those who engage in racist speech, so why do we not do so with those who engage in antisemitic speech?
Hopefully the DOE’s Title VI investigations its opened into over a dozen universities regarding physical threats and discrimination against Jewish students is a good start. However, given the depth of the antisemitism on display, I doubt it will solve the problem.
The strongest argument against the death penalty is wrongful conviction. “Two cousins who have spent 42 years behind bars walk free after being exonerated for the murders of two Chicago teenagers.” Even those these two were not put to death, they still lost 42 years – about half their expected life – because they were wrongfully convicted. We need to do better, much better.

On the upside, his legal defense fund raised over $20,000 and will be reopened if more is required.

The story, and for those interested, the video (blurred to protect the identity of both the person and his partner’s uh, hmm “asset” is at the link. To be honest, the video is rather mild for a porno tape, or so I’ve been told.
Talking about filming cringe worthy stuff. The Bidens hired a dance company to put on a Christmas production at the White House. That would be pretty cool, except the dance company’s website is filled with racist and Marxist nonsense, and topped off with a call to defund the police. But wait, it gets better. The production itself is what I would call, well I’m not sure what to call it, except it is in keeping with the best tradition of insulting Christians during Christmas.
For adults the Biden administration sure does make a lot of childish decisions.

California has become the leader in everything bad: San Francisco sets new record for overdose deaths. Between January 1 and November 30, 752 people died from drug overdoses in San Fransico. The previous record was set 2020 when 726 died from drug overdoses. The sad part is that this new record will be even higher once December ends and those overdose deaths are added.
The drug of choice? Over 81% of those deaths involved fentanyl, about 51% methamphetamine, and 46% cocaine. The percentages greatly exceed 100 because often there were more than one drug found in the person who died from the overdose.
The MSM should learn from those writing on substack about headlines and how to write a story: “Scummy Privileged Leftist Highway Protestors Hate Us.” Adam B. Coleman eviscerates (I do like the word eviscerates) those who think it’s right and good to block freeways:
“Fewer people are lower than a leftist protester who disrupts the lives of regular people just to make a gesture that accomplishes nothing. They behave like scummy privileged children as they make themselves more important than people with real responsibilities.”

President Biden’s “Inflation Reduction Act,” that does nothing to reduce inflation, included $7.5 billion to build charging stations for EVs across the nation. As of December 15, 2023, a total of one has been built; in London, Ohio; at a truck stop; where people charging their EVs are about as common as honest politicians in D.C.
You may be wondering why the first charging station was built at a truck stop in London, Ohio instead of, oh say LA where there are Teslas, Volts, and other EVs in abundance. Well, the answer is $5 billion is reserved to build charging stations that are supposed to run at least every 50 miles along our interstates. In other words, it doesn’t matter where the EVs are that need charging, the charging stations will be belt so the few who are brave enough to attempt a cross-country trip in an EV will be able to charge their vehicles.
Not sure there should be a law against this, but it’s in poor taste and disgusting: Planned Parenthood is selling onesies for babies. I do not think killing off your target market is a good business model.
