Jester Politics News Roundup For December 29. 2023 End Of Year Edition Happy New Year!  We at Jeter Politics truly appreciate you helping to make this one of the best websites on the web!  With your continued support, and yes reading our content is the best way to support us, we will continue to publish the best content you’ll find on the information highway!  Yes, I know “information highway” is a dated term, but I’m a dated guy! Once again, Happy New Year and stay safe!   This article by Greg Lukianoff  “Could the tide be turning for free speech on elite college campuses”  is well worth the read.  The part I think explains why our campuses or so bad is: “In schools across the country right now, students are taught to think like activists and not like scholars. They aren’t taught to always consider the possibility they might be wrong, to not engage in simplified sloganeering, and to see the true telos of their university as the discovery of truth. Pursuing predetermined political goals as if they are known with absolute, unquestioning certainty is why things have gotten so bad on campus…” I have a great deal of respect for Mr. Lukianoff and FIRE – the free speech organization he leads.  However, I think he is being too optimistic in his view that our universities can be brought back to embracing free speech and the pursuit of knowledge without drastic reforms.  I hope I’m wrong, I really do, but I fear I am not.   Mayorkas moves to secure the southern border.  Just kidding, instead:  “DHS Chief Mayorkas Warns Agents Not to Misgender Border Crossers, but Ask Their Preferred Pronouns.”   Interesting.  Canadian journalist Ian Vandaelle, known for advocating for the use of vaccine passports, firing those who refused the C19 vaccine, and sending people to concentration camps for defying government orders has died at age 33. “Hal Turner of the Hal Turner Radio Show suggested the COVID-19 vaccine was a factor in Vandaelle’s death.”  Not sure what the cause of Mr. Vandaelle’s death was, but it seems to happen to a number of young pro-vaccine people.   Science discovers what’s been known since the beginning of time. New study shows “Biological sex is a huge factor in sports performance”   Speaking of science, another new study shows “Testosterone Treatment Turns Democrat Voters More Conservative.”  I am not sure this study is accurate, Hillary Clinton seems to have a lot of testosterone and is a strong Democrat…    A good gig if you can get it: “Biden Returned to White House After Vacation, Left Next Day for Vacation.”   We are so screwed: “Gen Z are scaling back on eating out because they have ‘menu anxiety’…”  Of all the things I could have been anxious over in my life, eating out was never one…   Speaking of Gen Z and how screwed we are: “30% of Gen Z thinks Osama bin Laden’s ideas were a ‘force for good.’”  How can anyone with two working brain cells think this crazed terrorist’s ideas were a force for good?  Perhaps they should spend some time hanging with radicalized Islamist terrorists and then answer that question again, assuming they survive.   I’m not an expert on hunting, let alone hunting bears, but I do believe this decision could have used a bit more malicious forethought: ”Nature enthusiast is sent scrambling as huge black bear storms out from under a house after he shot it eight times with a PAINTBALL gun.”  Sometimes I wonder how mankind became the dominate species on earth…   The value of a bachelor degree continues to decline.  It’s at the point now where people should be very selective in deciding which degrees to take and which universities to attend, unless they want to be stuck with high debt and no job prospects.  More fundamentally, they need to question whether college or a trade school is the more advantageous route for them to take. Virginia and Pennsylvania have announced they’ve dropped the number of state positions requiring a degree.  Virginia has eliminated degree requirements for 90% of its positions and Pennsylvania for 92%.  Additionally, Intelligent.com is reporting that 45% of American employers are planning on eliminating the requirement for a four year degree for at least some positions. Guess that’s what happens when you transform institutions of higher education teaching critical thinking skills, into mills churning out political activists who are out of touch with reality.   For once I agree with the President: “Biden tells reporters to start reporting on the economy ‘the right way.’”  But I do have to ask, why would Biden demand the press report things that will derail his run for reelection?   Maybe just, just maybe eat less and exercise more?  “Nearly 162,000 tummy tucks were performed in the United States in 2022.”  Oh, they want you to know that this procedure has remained safe…   Infuriating.  Congress needs to cut the federal budget dramatically.  “Biden Gives Bureaucrats Biggest Pay Bump Since The Carter Admin As Americans Feel Crushed By Inflation.”  Via executive order Biden gave federal employees an average of 5.2% pay increase.  I believe the proper response is for Congress to decrease the federal workforce by the same percentage.   Some wit and wisdom from our leaders, 2023 edition: Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona, who is in charge of Title IX enforcement, repeatedly refused “to define ‘woman.’” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez compared the “ Palestinians’ experience with Jesus’ birth.” Boston University must be proud of the scholar she has become… Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg: “Traffic Fatalities Are Caused By ‘Discrimination’” (Video). Secretary of State Blinken: As I reflect on the “intense diplomacy over the past year, I am proud of our work to build stronger partnerships and strengthen global peace and security.” I do not think “peace and security” means what Blinken thinks it means. Non-binary ex-nuclear waste chief Sam Brinton “will undergo mental health evaluation…”  Perhaps Biden should have had this done … Continue reading Jester Politics News Roundup For December 29, 2023
