I’m a Democrat from Georgia who served as President from 1977-1981.

My presidency is remembered for a time of high inflation, a continuing energy crisis, the Iranian Hostage Crisis, and the failed attempt to rescue Americans held hostage by Iran.  My administration also suffered several scandals.

I’m the only sitting President in modern times to be challenged in his party’s presidential primary.

I brokered the Camp David Accords which Egypt and Israel signed on September 17, 1978.  The first peace treaty between Israel and an Arab country.  In 2002 I was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for my work in brokering this treaty.

After leaving public life I became known as a humanitarian, most notably for my work with Habitat for Humanity.
