Dismantling The Deep State

Dismantling The Deep State

A body of men holding themselves accountable to nobody ought not to be trusted by anybody. (Thomas Paine)

Well, well, well, here we are two days shy of three weeks into Trump’s second term and the DOGE has hit the fan.

It’s evident that Trump 2.0 is an improved version of the original Trump. Not a day goes by that he doesn’t issue Executive Orders ranging from the silly – like renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, to the important – like “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports.”[1] His ‘Border Czar’ is busy deporting illegal migrants, except for the really bad ones, those get sent to Guantanamo Bay. His emphasis on strict border enforcement has resulted in illegal border crossings plummeting by over 93%. And about those nations who initially refused to take back their citizens illegally in the U.S.? Well they were informed that the U.S. could be difficult too…and just like that, they decided they really would like their citizens back.

The speed that Trump initiated these and other actions took the left by surprise and sent shock waves through the Democratic party.

But it was Trump’s cabinet nominees that got the Democrats and deep state bureaucrats to set their hair on fire and run around screaming the end of civilization is near. The reason for this dire, albeit inaccurate and unhinge shrieking? Trump’s nominees are committed to reining in the unelected deep state by firing those bureaucrats who claim they’re ‘saving democracy’ by unlawfully undermining the democratically elected President. But the thing that scares the left more than all of this is the “Department of Government Efficiency” because it threatens the deep state’s power base – its job security and ability to control spending.

Though Congress appropriates money and the President sets spending priorities, it’s the deep state that actually spends our money…often in secret and always with little or no oversight. If that power is taken from it, then the deep state loses one of the two pillars upon which its illicit empire is built, and that empire collapses into a pile of ruble.

DOGE has exposed the deep state’s use of NGOs, universities, and “charitable organizations” to hide the fact they’re funneling funds to projects that promote their agendas, agendas that are often in conflict with the policies of the U.S. Hell, the deep state uses intermediaries to funnel money to organizations that not only violate our laws but also put the U.S. and the rest of the world in danger. For example, from 2014-2021 the National Institute of Health and USAID used EcoHealth Alliance, the University of California Irvine, Duke University, the University of California Davis, and the Regents of the University of California to funnel money to the Chinese Wuhan Institute of Virology, Wuhan University, and the Chinese Academy of Military Medical Science.

We don’t know the specifics on how these Chinese organizations used our money, but we do know that money is fungible; that the Wuhan Institute of Virology was conducting gain of function research; that it’s against U.S. law to use U.S. funds for gain of function research; and that COVID 19 resulted from gain of function research conducted by the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Therefore, there can be no doubt that U.S. funds played a part in creating the manmade COVID pandemic that swept the world and caused untold death and damage.

Even if we set aside the Wuhan lab funding fiasco, the next question is – why is the U.S. funding Chinese research at all and why the hell are we funding the Chinese Academy of Military Medical Science specifically?

Funding of this Chinese research is not the only instance of the deep state using third parties to cover their secretive, and at times illegal use of our tax money to fund shady stuff. To the contrary, use of third parties is a common, albeit one of the more unsophisticated methods, they use to routinely fund projects they should not be funding. If you want to see the really sophisticated schemes the deep state uses to secretly route federal funds to shady characters visit @DataRepublican. She’s a computer whiz who developed a program that tracks the movement of government funds through the sordid NGO/university/“charity” system. You’ll be shocked, at least I was, at the level of deception being used to get government funds into the hands of some really sketchy organizations – like providing $122 million to terrorist related organizations. No, I’m not kidding. A few other examples of the insane projects this lawless gang has funded:

– $2.1 million to the BBC to help them “value the diversity of Libyan society.” What does that even mean?;

– $20 million for a Sesame Street program…in Iraq;

– $2 million for sex changes and LGBT activism…in Guatemala;

– $7.9 million to teach Sri Lankan journalists how to avoid binary-gendered language. Seems like a high priority for one of the poorest countries in the world;

– $4.5 million to combat disinformation…in Kazakhstan;

– $6 million to promote Egyptian tourism;

– $1.5 million to promote LGBT advocacy in Jamaica;

– And my personal favorite, $10 million of USAID-funded meals for al Qaeda-linked terrorist group.[2]

None of this money made poor people’s lives better. None made America safer. None promoted our national interests. What it did is promoted the left’s agenda, contributed to our national debt, made the U.S. less safe, and expanded the illicit power of the deep state.

As important as DOGE’s efforts are in ridding the government of wasteful and fraudulent spending, another equally important part of this group’s work has gone mostly unnoticed – allowing Trump to reduce the number of bureaucrats employed by the federal government.

Our civil service laws – the second pillar upon which the deep state’s illicit empire is built – makes it nearly impossible to terminate individual federal employees for any reason, including insubordination. However, the difference between Trump and his predecessors is that Trump wants to significantly shrink the number of government employees and not merely make it easier to terminate individual employees. Trump can accomplish this goal by reducing the size of government agencies and ‘laying off’ those whose jobs have been eliminated. That is what he is currently doing with USAID, which is made possible by DOGE exposing the wasteful and illegal use of our tax money by the deep state.

If the deep state challenges Trump’s actions in court, it runs the risk of having the civil service laws declared unconstitutional as a violation of the separations of powers doctrine. If that is the outcome, than all employees of the Executive branch become “at will employees” who can be fired for any reason but an illegal reason. That is exactly what the deep state does not want. Conversely, a deep state victory gives them nothing but a little time. Using the waste and fraud DOGE discovers, Trump will still be able to shrink the federal agencies and lay off those whose jobs have been eliminated, it’ll just take longer and require more effort.

The question is not can Trump turn the deep state empire into a pile of rubble. Instead, the question is does he have the resolve to do so. So far he has demonstrated that he has that resolve and that is why the deep state and their allies in the Democratic party are running around with their hair on fire – they know their illicit empire is being dismantled and there is nothing they can do about it, except maybe delay its inevitable collapse for a bit.
